Apto Pre-Test Mock Exams

What do Apto offer and what is unique about it?

Apto provides the most realistic preparation for ISEB Common Pre-Tests, updated for the 2022 changes. We are the only company providing adaptive exams which are unique and do not pull questions from a generic item bank - just like the real exam. Following each exam, students receive detailed results analysis which includes the key metrics used by ISEB and so much more.

We also offer an invigilated service where one of our moderators will help to virtually administer the Pre-Test to help your child.

Will my child have seen the content before?

No, we can guarantee this because every single question has been created by us, specifically for the purpose of preparing for the ISEB Pre-Tests.

Can my child attempt the exam multiple times?

No, each exam can be completed once under timed conditions. Results Analysis and solutions will remain visible.

Are all Apto exams adaptive?

Yes, Apto provides a realistic experience of the ISEB Common Pre-Test and as such all exams are adaptive!

Do the exams expire?

No, you can complete the exam any time after you have purchased it.

Which product should I choose?

Completing any of the exams is great preparation, however we strongly recommend your child sitting an invigilated exam as this helps to create the most realistic exam experience possible.

How many exams should my child take?

Research and experience suggest that, on average, your child should attempt three realistic mock exams under the right conditions to optimally prepare for the Pre-Tests.

How do the invigilated exams work?

After purchase, one of our moderators will be in touch to arrange a convenient time for your child to sit the exam. At this time, they will connect to the PC remotely and provide full instructions throughout the exam, just like the real Pre-Tests.

Do they have to complete all four subjects (within one exam) in one sitting?

No, however we strongly recommend completing all four subjects in either one or maximum two sittings as this is the requirement for the real exam. Please note, you will only be able to view your results once all four subjects have been completed.

Many Independent schools require ISEB Pre-Test examination as part of their entry requirements. You can refer to this page for an up-to-date list of schools.

What exam board is used for the ISEB Common Pre-Tests?

CENTURY Tech

What is an adaptive exam?

The Pre-Tests are adaptive which means they are designed to adjust the difficulty of questions, based on the answers given. Adaptive tests begin with a medium-level question. Getting a question right gives you harder questions, harder questions carry more weighting so are worth more for the final score. Getting a question wrong gives you easier questions.

The adaptive model allows candidates to recover from any early wrong answers to attain a score that matches their ability.

How can my child prepare for the ISEB Pre-Tests?

There are two key elements which are equally important. Firstly, they need to learn and practise the content for all four subjects. Secondly, they need to be confident with doing a computerised and adaptive exam.

What is the difference between a computerised vs paper exam?

A computerised exam requires a different approach to answering questions. During the common Pre-Tests, a candidate cannot go back to a previous question and the next question is only visible once you have submitted an answer. This makes time management even more key.
