What are our exams

Our cutting edge online adaptive exams provide a tailored experience for every student. They use adaptive learning technology, dynamically adjusting the difficulty of questions based on a student's response to make it a more useful exam system than traditional tests.

They are specifically created for preparation for the 11+, the ISEB Common Pre-Test and as a general diagnostic exam. Based on the national curriculum topics for Maths and English and common NVR and VR topics, the exams are suitable for any student in years 5, 6 or 7

After the exam, students receive a detailed results analysis that will provide them with standardised scores to compare their performance against peers as well as a deep dive into how they performed in specific topics.

Format

Each full exam contains four subjects, which can be taken together or separately:

Mathematics

40 minutes

National Curriculum topics taught up to the end of Year 5

English

40 minutes

Consists of reading comprehension, cloze sentences, spelling and punctuation questions

Verbal Reasoning

25 minutes

Questions include common words, antonyms, letter codes and letter transfer

Non-Verbal Reasoning

30 minutes

Questions include shape analogies, matrices and classes unlike

The tests always begin with a medium-level question

Getting a question right gives you harder questions

Getting a question wrong gives you easier questions

Harder questions carry more weighting so are worth more for the final score

The adaptive model allows candidates to recover from any early wrong answers to attain a score that matches their ability

Results

After completing each full exam, students will be provided with an in-depth Results Analysis report. This distinctive feature of our online exams offers an extensive evaluation of their performance, enabling a more targeted and effective approach to each student's learning journey.

The overall mark for the exam is based on the number of questions answered correctly; the score is then adjusted for age and placed on a scale which makes comparison with peers. You are also provided with comparison statistics like the stanine, percentile rank and group rank.

Our Results Analysis takes a further step by offering a thorough breakdown of student performance across specific sections. It provides valuable insights, particularly regarding the allocation of time across different sections and throughout the entire exam.
